John Murry – the Mississippi-born, UK breakout artist – will see his debut album 'The Graceless Age' released today on Evangeline Recording Co. to across-the-board raves. A fascinating, two-part conversation with NPR's Robin Young aired on Here & Now yesterday as the pair discussed his Mississippi roots, connections to southern literature, working with co-producer Tim Mooney (Sun Kil Moon, American Music Club), Murry's heroin overdose in his adopted hometown of San Francisco, and the role honesty played in both the album and in his recovery from addiction.

Amid raves from NPR, NY Times, UNCUT and others, Corb Lund scored a personal best with a #13 debut on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and a #60 debut on the Billboard Indie Chart for his "breakthrough" (Washington Post) album 'Cabin Fever' (New West Records). John Murry – the southern literature-inspired songwriter, William Faulkner's second cousin, and darling of UK music scene – has been named a Next artist by NPR's World Café, which praises his music as music "alluring, emotional and infectious."

Meanwhile, MTV Hive tabbed his 'The Graceless Age' as among "the finest folk albums of the winter of ’13."

Baeble Music called him "masterful."

Just a few weeks ago, the Mississippi-born artist sold out shows in Belfast, Glasgow, Winchester, and London, with a line of fans turned away at the latter show January 29. After a firestorm of UK raves, John Murry's 'The Graceless Age' has been confirmed for a April 2 release on Evangeline Recording Co. It's the last album produced and recorded by Tim Mooney of American Music Club and Sun Kil Moon before his death June 13, produced in collaboration with Murry.

'The Graceless Age' was one of eight albums nominated for The UNCUT Music Award and praise has been effusive on the other side of the pond. Murry performed Ralph MacLean's BBC show as one of his "Best of 2012" artists and Ricky Ross' BBC Scotland show in front of a live audience at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall during the tour. The Sun gave it 5 stars out of 5, saying, "Occasionally, an album comes out of nowhere that completely blows your mind. Like this one… A genuine tour de force." In another 5 star (out of 5) review, R2 called it "a genuine American masterpiece." In a 9 star (out of 10) review, UNCUT's Senior Editor, Allan Jones, described the "deeply textured… ruined grandeur," continuing, "This is what 'The Graceless Age' as a whole does so unforgettably, bearing honest witness to a burning world." and went on to later call it "second only to Bob Dylan's Tempest" among best records of 2012.

CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN MAKES BEST SHOWING ON BILLBOARD TOP 200 CHART SINCE 1989

HAYES CARLL RETURNS FAVOR TO CORB LUND WITH LAUGH-OUT-LOUD CLEVER DUET "BIBLE ON THE DASH" FROM LUND'S NEW ALBUM 'CABIN FEVER' (AUGUST 14 / NEW WEST)

Following a duet with Corb Lund on Hayes Carll's 'KMAG YOYO (& other American stories)' album (which charted at #67 on the Billboard Top 200), Carll has returned the favor with a new song "Bible on the Dash" on Lund's new album 'Cabin Fever' (Auguest 14 / New West). The duo are also friends, past touring partners, duet partners, and were rivals for the 2010 Americana Music Awards Emerging Artist nomination. Carll says of the 4^th generation Albertan rancher and former metal player, "Corb's actually lived the shit we all want to sing about, and writes the stories we all wish we'd lived."

"Bible on the Dash" is a hysterical song about a rock band that grabs a Gideon's Bible from a hotel on tour and tries to talk their way out of trouble at various turns. Carll recalls, "Corb already had the chorus and the bones of the song. I just helped him describe what its like to be interrogated by southern police and explained to him that people sometimes use hotel bible pages as rolling papers in a pinch."
